January 12: Authors Sheetal Bhan, a TedEx Speaker and writer and Aamir Bengali, a promising Hindi Film Industry screenwriter, are on their way to transform the life of Deepak Pandit, an assistant commissioner of Mumbai-Customs and now GST, into a biography titled WHITE – The man beyond the uniform.

The amazing journey of Deepak Pandit’s life has influenced the authors. Sheetal, being Deepak Pandit’s niece, has grown up with him and has access to his personal experiences, which the authors claim are as good as scenes from Hindi movies. On the other hand, Aamir got mesmerised by the heroic events of Deepak Pandit. Pandit has well played each of his responsibilities in his real-life whether it is as a doting father, a cricketer or a customs officer. “Considering all that I have found while researching this book, I wouldn’t be shocked if the ‘most amazing’ is yet to come,” Sheetal said warmly when asked about the most extraordinary occurrence of Deepak Pandit’s life. “I believe Aamir is the best guy to answer that question,“ Sheetal further added. Talking about the trailer of the book, the authors mentioned their delight in working as actors onscreen. They further added it was a delight working with Divyansh Pandit, the director and founder of Wild Buffaloes Entertainment, the production company that created the trailer.

The trailer of the book includes quotes in praise of Deepak Pandit, by legendary Indian cricketers, like Chetan Sharma, Praveen Amre, Maninder Singh and many more, along with a couple of senior-most officials of the CBEC, a department under the Ministry of Finance. “Deepak is a highly resourceful officer with proper knowledge of law and procedure. It is a pleasure to work with an officer like him” – John Joseph Special Secretary to Govt of India and Member (Retd) CBIC “A great fighter who we called a swing master for his huge in swingers and an aggressive cricketer.” – Chetan Sharma (Chairman, Selection Committee, Indian Cricket Team and Former Indian Cricketer).

In one of the conversations, Aamir revealed how Pandit exposed a lady from the gulf at Mumbai International airport, who was smuggling gold in her stilettos. Aamir further said, “Deepak sir can easily intimidate even a strong-headed person with just a mere look of his. His eyes are extremely sharp and piercing. These aspects make him not just terrifying but also loveable.” Since Cricket is an undetachable part of Deepak sir’s life, the book will have a separate chapter. From selling sarees in Jammu to being able to play Ranji Trophy for J&K to becoming the selector of the junior Indian team that beat Pakistan at lords in the world cup, Deepak sir has seen it all with the red ball,” says Aamir. The authors will also be mentioning underworld threats to the virtuous officer and his crazy love story.

The book will soon hit the racks.
